How Do I Know If I'm an HSP or Empath?

There are many different traits that may identify you as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) or Empath. A few of these qualities are: ~ You are easily overwhelmed by loud sounds, bright lights, strong smells and crowds of people. ~ You are an introvert and require down time to recharge away from other people. ~ You have been called 'too sensitive' as a child and an adult. ~ You have a rich and colourful inner world. ~ You pick up on the emotions of other people and sometimes have difficulty separating what are your feelings and what are the others. ~ You feel everything deeply. ~ You would consider yoursefl a people pleaser and put other's needs before your own.

Can I Do a Test to Know if I am an Empath or HSP?

What Happens in a Counselling Session?

In your first session, we come up with a goal that we can work towards. This our touch point to see where we are going. In the following sessions we dance between what is happening for you currently and moving towards your goal. We will spend time discussing what is going on for you in your life, your thought processes around it, and how your body responds to your experience. We may integrate different types of modalities, like mindfulness practices, writing exercises, body movement or imaginings. I will give you optional homework at the end of most sessions so that you can take any take aways and apply them to your life. Your only job in a session is to show up as you!

How Long Will I Need Counselling?

That is completely up to you! Above all, I advocate for you to make your own choices. Some clients come for 4 - 6 sessions, some stay for longer. It can take between 4 - 6 sessions for us to get to know one another. I recommend that a new client come to sessions every 2 - 3 weeks to begin, if your time/finances allow. This will help to support you to get into a regular practice of self inquiry and to develop a level of comfort and trust with me. My intention is for you to establish a level of self awareness, resilience, and hope so that you can flourish and thrive in your life.

How Does Online Counselling Work?

Online Counselling is very similar to In Person Counselling. You have a scheduled time and I will send you a link to your meeting room before you scheduled session. We will meet through Zoom. Zoom is free and you can download it here. If possible, please make sure to have a quiet space where you are undisturbed by anyone else in your house. I will wear headphones to ensure privacy. You may wish to do so as well.

Is Online Counselling Effective?

Online Counselling has been proven to be highly effective for people. There have been multiple studies done that have found online therapy to be just as effective as in person treatments for depression and anxiety. You may prefer online counselling because it allows you the opportunity to be in the comfort of your own home. Online counselling also allows you to schdeule time for yourself into a busy schedule by helping you to cut down on travel time. And you can show up in your pjs!
